The blue bird sings a note

The blue bird sings a note
that rhymes. The pasture slopes
because the water writes
across it. Within the scope

of time resounds the quote
of spirit. The same tropes
repeat, denote and connote,
allude to Alexander Pope's

essays. I check footnotes
for renditions of a hope
unfailing. A cloud floats
and occults the telescope's
vision.
