I love to apprehend you in the world

I love to apprehend you in the world
that moves around me as the changing weather
and turning day. I love to hold you like
the sky holds the light of the Sun, to hold you like

the earth holds oceans and rivers. I comprehend
you in the valleys between the mountains, in
the words I use and breaths I take. Your breast
is heaving in the evening, and I can taste

the salt of your skin. I love to hold you like
the night holds the Moon, it's you that I perceive
in things. I want to hold you like the clouds

hold water, or the chimes hold simple music
that the wind plays. I love to apprehend
you in the violent motion that we make.
